The rapid growth of artificial intelligence (AI) has led to its increasingly widespread use and has impacted teaching and learning, including the field of Shariah studies. Fiqh Ibadah encompasses the rules and practices of worship such as purification, prayer, fasting, zakat, ‘umrah, hajj, slaughtering, and others. Understanding both its theoretical and practical dimensions is essential for effective learning. University students who study the Fiqh Ibadah course have the potential to benefit from more engaging and interactive learning experiences, making AI a useful tool for enhancing the understanding of Fiqh Ibadah in the digital era. However, the application of AI technology in the study of Fiqh also presents several challenges, such as concerns over effectiveness, the possibility of inaccurate information, and the tendency to obtain limited and general information. Therefore, this study aims to identify Challenges in the Application of Artificial Intelligence Technology in the Teaching and Learning (T&L) of the Fiqh Ibadah Course among Students in Private Higher Education Institutions (PHEIs)). The methodology of this study employs a quantitative approach by selecting sampling through the distribution of questionnaires involving 66 students from the Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin (UniSIRAJ) and others. The findings revealed that the challenges of using artificial intelligence in Shariah studies, particularly Fiqh Ibadah, include the potential of receiving limited and general information, inaccurate information, repetitive content, plagiarism through AI-generated content, and a decline in critical thinking skills due to dependence on AI and a lack of personal responsibility. Thus, the use of AI must be monitored by educators to ensure the integrity of information and its alignment with traditional Fiqh learning approaches. Ultimately, the implications of this study indicate that the use of AI technology must be grounded in Islamic legal principles.
